Radical Interpretation
Written by bigpig
Thursday, 20 March 2003
FMeekins sends another interesting insight: "Normally, I don’t comment much on the intense debate surrounding the various versions of the Bible as these often esoteric discussions focus upon issues of linguistic translation, matters about which I am unqualified to offer any substantial opinion. However, if the manner in which the American Bible Society markets The Contemporary English Version is any testament to the veracity of these Testaments, this edition of the Good Book might be propagating more of the Devil’s work than about promoting the will of the Lord." It's a chilling read...

The complete Military History of France .... no wonder
Written by bigpig
Thursday, 20 March 2003
This brilliant analysis of French Military history was originally posted at Silflay Hraka.

Gallic Wars - Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.
Hundred Years War - Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman."
Italian Wars - Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.

First death in Iraq Confict 2003
Written by bigpig
Wednesday, 19 March 2003
The Washington Post is carrying this Rueters story, "Iraq War Protester Dies in Golden Gate Bridge Fall".
"He appears to have been hanging a banner of some kind," said California Highway Patrol officer Timothy Willock. "We're not sure if he decided to jump or slipped while he was, you know, hanging the banner. That's unclear right now."

I guess we can call that a score for the gene pool.

Damned if we do, .... dead if we don't
Written by bigpig
Tuesday, 18 March 2003
CBS News is carrying this story by a journalist who recently fled Bagdad.
Under a brutal totalitarian regime like Iraq, nobody would dare talk ill of Saddam Hussein with a minder in earshot. To do so is not only illegal, it's foolhardy and reckless. So getting a "feel" for what Iraqis truly think is impossible. You get whispers, here and there, at times when you are alone with Iraqis: elevators, taxis.

But then.... (Read the rest...)

Ashamed to be a Citizen
Written by bigpig
Saturday, 15 March 2003
Today I am ashamed to be an American. Today, I am ashamed to be a citizen of a free, democratic society. I hang my head in shame not because of our government or our leader, but in shame of so many of my fellow citizens.

Today, as for the last several months, the citizens of many free countries are protesting, and even the governments of many democratic nations are interfering with actions that are required for justice. Every person who marches in the streets of a free country, denouncing the actions of the United States in bringing Saddam Hussein to justice should think about what they are supporting.... The Pro-America movement begins
Written by bigpig
Friday, 28 February 2003
Where is the Pro-America movement in the midst of all of these loons chanting for a false sense of peace? Well, FOXNews has a story about the 'Pro-War' Movement. While I'm not sure that 'Pro-War' is accurate, it's still a good article.

(Thanks to WYK for sending us the link to the article.)

In the mean time, I'm looking for a Pro-Doing-What's-Right-When-It-Needs-To-Be-Done logo for the bigpig as well as my other sites. I'm open to suggestions. If you find something, you can submit it as a story, or e-mail me at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . I'm about thinking something that's based on the flag -- obviously.

Taking Shots At Common Sense
Written by bigpig
Friday, 28 February 2003
Frederick Meekins: "In a moment of crisis, ultimate loyalties have a way of bubbling to the surface as the individual must decide which authority takes precedence in an individual’s life. But in this day where the state supercedes all the others, woe unto the individual mistakenly assuming one of the other orders of creation, to use Augustine’s term, belongs at the top of the sociological pyramid."

Poster Girl of The New World Order
Written by bigpig
Friday, 31 January 2003
FMeekins sent us this: "Throughout history, social movements have often come to be identified with the individuals most perceived as embodying their expressed values and perspectives. That being the case, one might suggest Arianna Huffington be considered the perfect spokeswoman for the New World Order. For even though she definitely lacks the intelligence required to manifest the cabalistic acumen needed to orchestrate such a comprehensive plot, a number of the viewpoints she expresses are nearly identical to those motivating those allied with this global conspiracy." Haven't heard from you in a while, Fred. I was beginning to get worried.

40 Reasons for Gun Control (CORRECTION)
Written by bigpig
Tuesday, 07 January 2003
I received a very kind notice today that there are some issues with this article, 40 Reasons for Gun Control.

This is actually an extract from my original article at http://www.michaelzwilliamson.com/politics.htm It first appeared at http://www.keepandbeararms.com in 1999.

I encourage its distribution for non-profit, however, it MUST have my (c) notice from my original on it, and I recommend the newer version for

accuracy--the original has two errors in it.

Unattributed copies are bad, because on two occasions it has been quoted

by FOR-PROFIT groups. In which cases, I legally must collect royalties or lose claim to the intellectual property. So far, one magazine is in the awkward position of having to send me a check and print a correction, and another refuses to pay and wishes to go to court.

Your assistance in preventing this is appreciated--I hate legal fights, especially with allies. Everyone using it for non-profit purposes may continue do so for free, but I must be credited.

Thanks for the help, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Mike

Honey really does work better than vinegar! Not only that, but it's good enough stuff that you really should head right on over and read it again!

Leave Our Holidays Alone
Written by bigpig
Thursday, 02 January 2003
It seems that I took an extended Holiday from the bigpig, and I apologize for that. With this article, I have finished cleaning out the submissions bin. Even though I'm publishing this story late, it is well worth your time to read.

Anonymous sent us this: "Leave Our Holidays Alone
... Every year at this time the atheist, and whoever, crawl out from whatever rock they hide under most of the time with their barrage of complaints about Christmas and the icons of the Christian Religion.

Well I have some news for you folks, this country was founded by Christians, and continues to be 85% Christian in it populous. That's right we are the majority. Not you. So I am going to write this article, and then I am going to make every effort I can to put an end to the minority running over the top of the majority in this country with their cries of fowl when it comes to anything Christian.

This means that 15% of the total populous of America is either some other religion, or they practice no religion at all. That of course is their choice and that choice is protected by the Constitution of this country. However, so are the rights of the remaining 85% of the population’s rights protected by that same Amendment.

Let's look at what it says:

Stand up and take a position, stop letting the special interest groups run our lives."

Happy Tolerance Day!
Written by bigpig
Thursday, 02 January 2003
FMeekins sent us this: "That’s right --- “Happy Tolerance Day.” Use to be this time of year Americans greeted one another with a hearty “Merry Christmas”. However, if the minions of political correctness continue to foist their intellectual swill upon the nation’s culture, the Yuletide season will come to symbolize something else entirely."

Moyers’ Malfeasant Mouth
Written by bigpig
Thursday, 02 January 2003
FMeekins sent us this: "For decades, Conservatives have warned the American people about the liberal biases emanating from the transmission towers of PBS. PBS, on its part, has always countered that it broadcasts nothing but objective, unembellished fact. It would thus seem that this media megalith is not aware of its own presuppositions or is intentionally downplaying them in an attempt to blunt critical responses on the part of discerning viewers."

Nibbling Away Our Freedom
Written by bigpig
Sunday, 10 November 2002
FMeekins sent us this: "In traditional American thought, the government plays a limited role, confining itself to activities such as military defense and the punishment of crimes such as theft and murder. Popular mythology holds this to be a key principle embraced by the Republican Party since freedom dictates that the individual be allowed to pursue their interests unimpeded within the boundaries of reason and natural law. One would think such rights extended to the simple things of life like what we eat as well." Read the rest.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America
Written by bigpig
Wednesday, 23 October 2002
Sandra sent us this: "Big Brothers and Sisters In Turmoil, the cover story on World Magazine Online is reporting internal turmoil in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations, with some of their executive directors refusing to follow a new mandate that requires them to accept gay mentors. The entire image of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America is now under attack—and some local affiliates are fighting back. Their affiliate directors note that the BBBSA forbids matching girls with men because of potential sexual attraction that could lead to molestation. So why should homosexual men be matched with boys?" Read the rest at the site....

Thoughts on Voting
Written by bigpig
Tuesday, 22 October 2002
Anonymous pionted us at this excellent piece. "With the elections less than two weeks away, internet discussion boards are abuzz. Many with questions of why someone chooses to vote the way they do. I recently responded to such a question, rather quickly and without much thought. Upon reflection, I realize the answer deserves much greater detail to be fully understood....When I enter into the voting booth on November 5th, I will have spent countless hours in self-deliberation of many issues." It's a great run down of who we are, who we have been and who we're called to be as a nation.

Flushing Prosperity Down The Drain
Written by bigpig
Friday, 18 October 2002
FMeekins keeps sending great brain food: "The acolytes of tolerance regularly charge that the policies advocated by contemporary Conservatism are designed to oppress minorities and hinder the development of less-advanced societies. But whereas true Conservatives endeavor to maximize the potential for individual achievement within the framework of a universal set of values, the assorted manifestations of the Left possess no goal other than the total regimentation of both society and the life of the individual." Rushing to Judgment
Written by bigpig
Wednesday, 02 October 2002
FMeekins sent us this: "On September 11, 2001, Americans were awakened to a war of ideas whose outcome will determine the fate of this great nation and the ultimate disposition of freedom throughout the world. Yet despite the unimaginable tragedy that befell our country that day, to some the worst thing you can possibly still do is stand by your convictions regarding traditional conceptions of right and wrong, labeling those daring to take such moral positions as 'divisive" and "intolerant" in the process."
