GOA sent us this release, "In October the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans handed down a ruling that struck at the heart of an inviolable tenet of the anti-gun movement; that the Second Amendment protects a collective, not an individual, right." read the rest by clicking below.

CNN: Bush Still President |
|
Written by bigpig

Monday, 12 November 2001 |
Here's yet another stupid story from CNN confirming that Bush would have won Florida had the recount been allowed to continue. They then -- even in the headline -- blame it on voter error. What the media and the Democrats don't understand is that the recount was illegal, and that dimples aren't votes, they are dimples.

Here's a FoxNews.com story about a environmentalist wacko group calling themselves Wildlife Watch that wants New York State to cancel the 2001 deer season because, 'Hunting "is just a wonderful opportunity for someone who would want to do a terrorist act," Muller said. "They don't have to report their whereabouts and can be lurking anywhere. They can lurk in groups." ' Oh, yeah.

Thought War America's Weakest Front |
|
Written by bigpig

Wednesday, 07 November 2001 |
Anonymous sent us an article by Frederick Meekins, "Thought War America's Weakest Front." I managed to dig around and find this web page after following a link from The American WorldView Dispatch. "On the sci-fi drama "Babylon 5", initiates to the elite interstellar Rangers established by the Mimbari Federation spend much of their training learning the language of that particular alien culture regardless of the recruit's planet of origin, the idea being to these warriors that combat is as much about proper thought as superior firepower. If some of the intellectual approaches applied to the war on terrorism are any indication, the United States could be headed for serious trouble down the road."

The U.S.A. Patriot Act, or Giving Up Our Civil Rights |
|
Written by bigpig

Sunday, 04 November 2001 |
Here's a story at the Washington Post online detailing the "U.S.A. Patriot Act," which is possibly the most draconian law passed concerning law enforcement intelligence and civil liberties ever passed in the United Sates. Yeah, it sunsets in 2005, but it's all too easy to make minor tweaks, and pass it again. This is shorted sighted legislation.

Anonymous sent us this: I am writing in concern for our civil freedoms that are being usurped from us. We are being taken advantage of while America is in a state of shock. The new policies that are being implemented to "preserve our freedom" from future attacks, is taking the last remnant of what is remaining of "AMERICA" and "FREEDOM".

Anti US rhetoric since sept 11 |

Anonymous sent us this: " Since sept 11 there has been much debate on the response of the US. A lot of the arguments against responding have simply been anti US rhetoric. They have ignored the actual threat terrorism represents in our world today. This could literally be a fatal mistake..." (read the rest below)

A buddy sent me this from the American Policy Center: "The terrorists score a huge victory if they force us to forego our Constitutional rights to live free from the federal government spying on our every phone call, email, voice message, and expenditure," says Tom DeWeese,
president of the American Policy Center. I was unable to find this on their web site, so I had to post the whole e-mail below.

Picket signs for Protesting the Protesters |

I've been thinking about what to do if I see a group of "war protestors" out making fools of themselves. They have a right to free speech, freedom to assymble, and I'll defend their right to make fools of themselves... I'll also help them make fools of themselves. Here are some slogans you can put on posterboard and march with the protestors.... click below to read the rest

Crypto doesn't kill--people do |

News.com has this story by Charles Cooper about cryptography, back doors, knee-jerk reactions, and why passing stupid laws won't stop crime (remember, murder has been illegal for 6,000 years and it still happens). Here's a quote I like: "First off, it's a quick-fix, feel-good measure that won't make a whit of difference when it comes to stopping the bad guys."

patriotplace sent us this: "For the past two weeks America has come together like never before. Finally, being an American is a "heart felt" state of mind, not dependent on membership in a partucular race, ethnic group, or social class. But, there are already special interests, Jesse Jackson for one, the liberal media for another, and all the "un-patriotic" institutions and stores that are trying to split the country into groups again." Running from Kabul -- Taliban Losing Control |
|
Written by bigpig
|
|
Wednesday, 26 September 2001 |
Here's a story from Washington Post about the people of Kabul, Afganistan fleeing the city. You've got the police looting and conscripting, even abducting civilians and holding them for ransom. The Taliban has turned from a harsh ruler into a gang that rules by terror. Here's a quote: Many of those on the road once had faith in the Taliban. "At first, we preferred them," Khalid said. "They were good. They brought some peace. But afterward, there was a difference. What they said, they never did. What they promised, they never gave. The people are tired of the bad, bad actions. They get worse day by day." It's looking like the "Battle of Kabul" has already been won, and not a single bullet fired.

New weapons in a new kind of war |
|
Written by bigpig

Monday, 24 September 2001 |
I read this article from Janes.com about new, untested technologies that reduce the "sensor-to-shooter" times of attacks talking about reconocense drones and such. Today, my brother sent a link that lead me to this information about the Afgani malitia. "The Taliban militia is organized as a pickup truck cavalry." (about 2/3 down the page.) That got me to thinking about this Ford prototype that I read about a few months back. I don't know if it's ready to roll, but I bet you dollars-to-doughnuts that the time table has been moved up on this project. (I want one!)

Who Lit the Fire? Taking a Larger View. |

Another story from Janes: Who did it? Foreign Report presents an alternative view. "Israel's military intelligence service, Aman, suspects that Iraq is the state that sponsored the suicide attacks on the New York Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington. Directing the mission, Aman officers believe, were two of the world?s foremost terrorist masterminds: the Lebanese Imad Mughniyeh, head of the special overseas operations for Hizbullah, and the Egyptian Dr Ayman Al Zawahiri, senior member of Al-Qaeda and possible successor of the ailing Osama Bin Laden."
