Our "Ally" to the South

Anonymous sent us this: "So, you were thinking about a trip to the Grand Canyon. Or maybe you are planning to retire to the sunny deserts of Arizona? Not if our Mexican ally has anything to say about it. Recent opinion poles report that over 62% of Mexican citizens see the American southwest as rightfully part of Mexico. Facilitating illegal immigration into the United States is actually a POLICY of the Mexican government. And, Mexican separatist organizations have cropped up in EVERY southwestern university, many high schools, and almost every large city. Evidently, the last 160 years of the southwest being part of the United States, and the fact Mexico could never get anyone to actually live in Northern Mexico when it was under their control has little bearing on their territorial claims.

Mexicans, as a culture, suffer from a machismo complex. They have to be the toughest, most powerful, violent wife beaters in the world with the highest number of mistresses in order to feel any sense of self worth. If they are confronted with an adversary that they perceive as WEAK (a.k.a. the United States) then their victory should be assured simply on the grounds of their “maleness”. Then, God forbid if they lose. Just like the Islamists, or any group from a Third World male dominated culture, the Mexicans have allowed their “humiliation” to fester into hatred and a cancer in their society."

So, you were thinking about a trip to the Grand Canyon.

Just like the Islamists, or any group from a Third World male dominated culture, the Mexicans have allowed their “humiliation” to fester into hatred and a cancer in their society.

Mexico does not see their defeat in the Mexican War at the hands of the Americans as a military loss, but as a statement about the size and strength of their “manhood”. (The Mexican Army was well equipped to massacre civilian settlers in Texas, but did not fare so well when faced with a trained American Army despite the Mexicans 4-1 numerical advantage.) How can a Mexican politician walk around in a flamboyant suit with 2000 metals and sashes and his head held high with this humiliation? (What are all those medals for anyway? Most bottles of Grecian Formula used in a year?)

The result is that anti-Americanism is a deeply ingrained aspect of Mexican society and politics. They distain us for our becoming the richest most powerful society in the world while they have remained a Third World banana republic swamp. Of course, they will take none of the responsibility on themselves for their condition (rampant corruption, military oppression, poor to nonexistent public education, a complete and total lack of public health standards, and the murdering of over 2 million people in their Revolution must be GOOD ways to produce a vibrant society.) Many Mexicans actually feel if they had not lost the large tracts of unpopulated desert that was Northern Mexico, then they would be the preeminent power in the world and not America. It has nothing to do with the industriousness or hard work of the population. Rather, the American Southwest must a magical place where if you just sit there you get rich (just ask the Indians.)

Mass unemployment, low wages, a lack of social services and centuries of brutal government corruption and oppression has created crippling social problems for Mexico. Even with NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement) Mexico still has floundered and realistically speaking may be very close to complete collapse into civil war (it probably already would have long ago if it were not for the United States supporting its economy by buying the fuel they stole from American companies when they nationalized their oil industry.) Any sane leader or government would realize that major reforms must take place IMMEDIATELY if Mexico is not to be left behind in the 21st Century. However, the administration of Mexican President Vicente Fox has decided that the best answer to Mexico’s problems is to EXPORT THEM TO THE UNITED STATES.

What better way to reduce the stresses on inadequate social welfare programs than by sending your uneducated poor to the United States? Mexicans already feel that America has stolen their land, so why not move back there and live off their public dole. Mexicans are not dissuaded by the fact that they are “immigrating” through a hole cut through a chain link fence, American law means nothing when you are returning to your rightful home (even though you nor your ancestors ever lived there.)

Statistics show that LAWFUL Mexican immigrants have the lowest percentages of any immigrant group in seeking out American citizenship or in efforts to either learn English themselves or teach it to their children. They also have the lowest rates of moving outside immigrant communities into the wider society. It is obvious that many Mexicans just DO NOT WANT TO ASSIMILATE to America but want AMERICA TO ASSIMILATE to them. Remember, these are the LEGAL immigrants. Can you imagine the attitudes of the illegals? Couple this with the prevailing attitudes that vast parts of America are actually part of Mexico, and the growing presence of separatist groups it is plain to see that America has a major problem brewing on the horizon.

Vicente Fox, has gone so far as to demand “watering stations” in the American desert so illegals will not get too thirsty running from the Border Patrol. He has prepared actual SURVIVAL PACKAGES for illegal immigrants to take with them to ease their border crossings (how difficult would it be for guns, drugs, or anthrax to be included in these “humanitarian” bundles?) He has also stepped up his rhetoric protecting the “rights” of illegal immigrants in the United States, demanding access to education, health care, and social services. He has marshaled policies were Mexicans can show up at a Mexican “consulate” and ANY illegal can get an ID car that now will grant them de facto U.S. citizenship. To tie the ends all together, Fox has also criticized the United States for human rights abuses any time we try to make an effort to stem this anti-American tide flowing over the Rio Grand. However, Fox’s apparent love for the safety and well being of Mexico’s citizenry evidently only kicks in when he is looking North. Fox, and Mexican leaders for generations have treated Mexico’s own unfriendly minority (the Chiapas Indians) to violent military oppression and slaughter for their desires to live freely on their ancestral lands (can you say DUPLICITOUS?)

America MUST be more conscious of history. It is our nature to always look to the future and forget past transgressions. This is a quality has helped make us great, but we must remember that not all peoples, INCLUDING our neighbors, do not share our optimistic outlook on life. For others, historical events even centuries old still have modern day implications, and we ignore them at our peril. Unless our Government begins to acknowledge this reality and reflect it in our immigration policy enforcement, the true vile fruits of illegal immigration may not be seen until it is too late.
