During the time of year from mid-January now through March it seems there is something special in the air. No, I am not referring to those feelings of love and romance that are kindled in anticipation of Valentine’s Day and linger after the celebration’s diminution. Rather, I am writing about the stench from the pot of hypocritical sentiments that gets stirred up as part of Black History Season.
Most Americans have fallen for the popular notion that the so-called civil rights and racial equality movements exist to eliminate the role played by race and ethnicity in determining the worth of an individual and the value of their accomplishments. However, this has become a popular misconception in light of the fact that few in the movement today possess the integrity to implement Martin Luther King‘s moral vision, who despite his numerous faults and shortcomings, called for a day when people would be judged not by the color of their skins but by the content of their characters.
Ironically though, those that wallow in his legacy the most fail to the greatest extent in living up to this ideal by making the biologically arbitrary characteristic of skin pigmentation and loyalty to those of the nearest genetic phenotype the primary criteria by which to judge the propriety of someone’s actions and even who is granted a higher status on radical equality’s sliding scale.
Hypersensitive multiculturalists hold that it is the obligation of government to protect specified sociological classifications from being offended. It does not matter, however, what affronts are committed against those falling outside these designated categories or to the values they hold.
Greatest of all sins --- in fact probably one of the few instances where that “outdated” ethical term might even be allowed --- is to praise anything positive about the Antebellum South or the Confederacy. Even little old grannies aren’t immune from the punishments and chastisements that flows from violating this quasi-sacred dictum.
Black members of the Virginia General Assembly refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of Virginia because it was written by a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy who dared pen, “I salute the flag of Virginia with reverence and devotion to the ‘Mother of States and Statesmen’ which it represents --- the ‘Old Dominion’, where liberty and independence were born.”
One colored malecontent from the Black Caucus (one wonders if there is a white organizational counterpart) in the House of Delegates snapped, “I don’t want to be part of the Old Dominion. I want to be part of the New Dominion. “ To be part of the New World Order is more like it; for if one opposes the liberty and independence homaged by the Virginia Pledge, that’s exactly what one longs for in terms of sociopolitical organization.
Such a conclusion can be drawn by examining just whom these radicals think should be honored over and beyond a patriotic grandmotherly type whose only fault was an admiration of her beloved state’s history. For while the Black Legislative Caucus vilifies Mrs. Cassye Gravely --- the Pledge’s author --- as one of the great villains of American history, their ideological compatriots at the U.S. Post Office have placed their stamp of approval on an individual at best worthy of our disgust and contempt.
The Postal Service claims it is honoring Paul Robeson with a stamp for his accomplishments as a thespian. But as Hoover Institution fellow and Washington Times columnist Arnold Beichman notes, this philatelic fiasco makes as much sense as lavishing similar praise upon Nazi cinematographer Leni Riefensthal for her groundbreaking films. For you see, Robeson was an avowed Stalinist.
Multiculturalists cannot whitewash this unpleasant fact simply because Robeson was Black. Unlike more wily subversives, Robeson was quite open about his preferences favoring dictatorship and bloodshed. According to Beichman, of those who dared to stand in the name of freedom against the infringements of liberty inherent to the Communist way of life --- a system responsible for destroying more innocent lives than even Nazism --- Robeson believed they ought to be shot and that Soviet authorities acted appropriately in killing millions during the Great Terror.
Another dogma promulgated by the multiculturalist hierarchy is that race does not matter since in the end we are all human beings. That is until minority racemongers harp on their pity-pots with their hands outstretched in hopes of handouts. White folks, on the other hand, aren’t even suppose to realize they are white.
At no other point in history can the student of the past come across a people as eager to cooperate in bringing about their demise as the contemporary Western Caucasian as modern America is essentially inviting its conquerors in and giving away the store in the process. Even on their way out the Romans put up a bit of a fight to make the Barbarians work for it.
This demographic pathology has been so ingrained by opinion making elites that often only those holding to other equally fanatical extremes posses the fortitude of their own distorted beliefs to enunciate some kind of warning against the pending cultural and ethnographic suicide.
Democratic grassroots theory postulates that the way to persuade fellow citizens as to the rightness of one’s cause is to employ speech of an argumentative nature rather than the strong-arm violence regularly characterizing less civilized cultures. Interesting then that the Mayor of Annapolis, Maryland exhibited her own affinity for police state tactics when she urged residents to jot down the tag numbers and descriptions of members of the White supremacist National Alliance for distributing a flyer entitled “Missing: A Future For The White Child” (I wonder if the same was done about Jehovah’s Witnesses prowling the neighborhood).
With immigration out of control and with the glee in which most of the nation’s so-called “leaders” roll over on the issue, guess the publication’s critics couldn’t very well argue against its truthfulness and hope to maintain credibility. The placard is part of the “Love Your Race” awareness campaign of this controversial organization.
That is awful, most will contend, in light of the groups often repugnant ideology. Besides, we are told in this new day of enlightenment and understanding, it doesn’t really matter what color someone is since we are all one big happy family. Then why is it this lofty ideal gets tossed aside when minorities want to wallow in what they are and to smear our noses in it?
If the Mayor of Annapolis wants to go Gestapo on those who don’t happen to share in her “I’d Like To Buy The World A Coke” view of the world, perhaps for the sake of consistency she should call for the same tactics to used against the Wal-Mart PR department. If race doesn’t really matter as the multiculturalists continually pound into White heads, why did Wal-Mart in cahoots with Kraft Foods produce a publication in commemoration of Black History Month entitled Strong Traditions And Soaring Dreams.
For that matter, why is there even a Black History Month? I don’t remember there being one where we clap for people just because they are White. White folks can’t even raise awareness regarding their own self-preservation without municipal officials resorting to surveillance tactics of questionable constitutionality.
One individual profiled in the booklet, radio personality Tom Joyner, is about as conductive to the promotion of the “inclusion” and “non-divisiveness” constantly invoked to a nauseating degree by those that worship at diversity’s altar as including David Duke in a parallel publication chronically notable Whites of achievement. At least Duke’s comments are promulgated in a rational and non-disparaging manner; that’s more than can be said about Joyner.
If a Caucasian host of Joyner’s notoriety had said about Blacks what this broadcaster has said about Whites, the White guy would probably be rounded up by an FCC goon-squad. Not only through derogatory segments such as “Ask D. Whiteman” (guess it would be hard to do the same with an average Black guy off the street since it would be near impossible to understand his diction) but also through the causes Joyner supports one can deduce Joyner exhibits an undue preference towards those of “his community” (as he often calls them) that ought to embarrass any liberal in this day of overly-loquacious egalitarianism.
Foremost among Joyner’s philanthropic efforts is the Tom Joyner Foundation which supports BLACK students at historically BLACK colleges. Since the mind is intangible and immaterial, one would assume it did not have a color. So can anyone tell me why a Black student is more deserving of knowledge than one of another ethnic background?
Seems Joyner shows us his true colors in that he reveals that his racial agenda outranks any respect he might be trying to feign for erudition and academic achievement. Contrary to the propaganda of the United Negro College Fund, not all Caucasian minds have had the opportunity to live up to their potential either.
But perhaps most disgraceful of all is his setting aside of funds for Black victims of the 9/11 attacks. So much for everybody simply being an American that day.
I wasn’t aware it was a more grievous tragedy Black folk that died that day. You’d think we’d all pretty much look alike incinerated into a pile of ashes.
It would be bad enough if such hypocrisy confined itself to typically liberal sources such as half-wits in the media like Joyner and pea-brained legislators such as those in Virginia Black Caucus who can be easily ignored by those with a modicum of commonsense. However, things have gotten a bit more serious when so-called “conservatives” at the highest levels of government begin to adopt attitudes not considerable different than racial radicals and agitators.
It is generally agreed upon that racial discrimination is judging someone by the color of their skin or ethnic background to determine if someone is to be granted a particular privilege, accommodation, or deemed worthy of association. Interesting then that the White House would violate this standard the rest of the government rigorously imposes upon the rest of us by celebrating Martin Luther King’s Birthday with a luncheon for the spouses of African-American clergy. Will Billy Graham be commemorated with a Euro-American clergy lunch and can you imagine the riot that would break out if he was? If little white boys and little white girls are suppose to hold hands with little black boys and little black girls, shouldn’t their spiritual leaders be expected to do the same?
The well-being of minorities in this country lies largely in their own hands. They can either embrace true equality of opportunity and in so doing enjoy all that America has to offer; or they continue to talk out of both sides of their mouths and incur White resentment in the process. The choice is up to them.
